Description: Health and health behavior science data often consist of categorized data. In this course, students will learn description and inference for binomial and multinomial variables using proportions and odds ratios; developing a critical approach to the analysis of contingency tables; examining the basic ideas and methods of generalized linear models; linking logit and log-liner methods with generalized linear models; developing basic facility in the analysis of discrete data using SAS.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will demonstrate the following:
Facility in the analysis of contingency table data.
Knowledge of the basic ideas and methods of generalized linear models.
Understanding of logit and loglinear models.
Facility in the analysis of categorical data using SAS.
